We have done our research and found the five best cities in the U.S. to practice PR. Pack your oversize bags, because it is time to head to the place where everything is bigger; Austin, TX!

Austin, TX has earned the number one spot on our list for many reasons, the most important being their oversize salaries. According to salary.com, an entry-level public relations specialist in Austin makes an average of $81,543 per year.  This is significantly higher than the national average of $46,519 per year. Not only is Austin’s salary large, but so is their job market. Recently ranked at the number one spot for Forbes’ annual “Best cities for jobs” list, Austin is the third-fastest growing city in the United States. It is attracting college grads from all over with its big job market and even bigger salaries.

Washington, D.C. is the next stop on our PR list. As our nation’s capital, this city is constantly buzzing with people and politics, both of which are in constant need of public relations specialists. Not only is this city filled with people, it is also filled with jobs! The average salary for an entry-level public relations specialist in Washington, D.C. is $51, 357.

New York City

New York City takes our third slot, and rightfully so. The “city that never sleeps” is also the city that never runs out of PR jobs. With everything from Broadway to Wall Street, there is sure to be something in the public relations spectrum that suits your fancy. With the average salary of $54,851 and the top salary of $63,208, you can afford to work on Broadway and enjoy it too!

Denver is not only number four on our list, but on Forbes’ “Best places for business and careers” list as well. With many new and upcoming companies making Denver their new home, there are sure to be plenty of PR jobs for you! Not only does this metropolis have three times the national average of jobs available, it has the highest concentration of working PR specialists as well. If that’s not enough to convince you to move to this city in the Rockies, then we don’t know what will!

Boston is last but certainly not least! Although this is an expensive place to live, it is also one of the highest paying for recent college grads. With an average starting salary of $50,242 and many growing businesses, such as Fluent and Inkhouse, this historical city is catching the eye of many public relations specialists.
